About Me

I was educated at Sheffield University in Chemical Process Engineering and Fuel Technology where I was awarded a Honours degree.

I have worked in the steel industry for the last 27 years working on Environmental research projects.

Experience included stack and open pit air monitoring and effluent quality monitoring. I also developed experience in expert systems and neural networks and deployed an expert system for monitoring a fume extraction system on a large EAF plant.

My main expertise is in Life Cycle Assessment, with over 20 years experience.

Member of PAS2080 SG. Steering group member of the PAS2080 carbon footprinting of infrastructure specification published by BSi.

Member of BSi mirror committee for ISO 14040 and 14044 LCA Standards.

Water footprinting expert, representing UK Steel and worldsteel on the development of the ISO 14046:2014 standards

Implementation and management of an ISO 14001 system at department level for Group Environment at Tata Steel

Project leader for the sustainability assessment project of the EU ULCOS project, which looked at new steel making technologies with the potential to reduce CO2 emissions by at least 50% by 2050.
